Director Plant Operations

Our client is a Canadian manufacturing success story on a continued growth pattern. They have engaged our services to source a Director Plant Operations to supervise and oversee all manufacturing activities at the operating level and to achieve effective and efficient use of facilities and personnel so that products are manufactured on schedule to the required standards of quality, cost, delivery and safety.  You will engage in a consistent commitment to building and cultivating a high-productivity culture with clear expectations, values and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivers on business goals and plans and is accountable for operational performance for operations under their direction
  • Lead the multi-site manufacturing operations
  • Demonstrate leadership in implementing change to institute operational best practices and reduce process variance by driving continuous improvement through Lean activities in all aspects of plant management
  • Lead, coordinate, and direct through Production Manager and Supervisors, all functions of the plant by setting expectations and monitoring delegated activities
  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring that all safety and environmental procedures and regulations are followed
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans to achieve operational excellence while supporting business growth
  • Develop plans and procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards


  • Degree in Industrial Engineering
  • 10 years of progressively responsible manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing leadership/operations experience
  • Multi-site Plant Operations Leadership
  • Proven track record of success streamlining operations
  • Experience in implementing, driving and coaching Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives in a manufacturing setting
  • Lead cross-functionally
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people, get results through others, develop direct reports and teams, build relationships
  • Qualifications in LEAN, Six Sigma
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and improve safety and plant financial performance
