PSG is proud to represent Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club who engaged our services to source a Sr. Director Facilities & Operations.  Reporting to the EVP, Business Operations, the Senior Director, Venue Operations is responsible for leading a department focused on maintaining and enhancing Rogers Centre to drive achievement of organizational goals. This role will include overseeing the construction of annual capital projects, maintenance, repairs, engineering, field operations & grounds crew.  In addition to joining the illustrious Leadership Team of one of Canada’s most iconic brands; you will have the opportunity to lead and inspire a team who will be responsible for the impeccable management of an innovative, world-renowned venue.

MANDATE/KEY DELIVERABLES

Venue Operations:

  • Working with the EVP, Business Operations and other senior leadership, determine and direct the implementation of the long-term capital and facilities plan of the organization
  • Evaluate existing facilities management systems and processes to determine needs for improvement, development and implementation of new structures, processes, practices, evaluation methodologies and metrics to create efficient and effective facilities operations
  • Oversee departments responsible for maintenance and repairs of Rogers Centre including facilities, roof and playing field 

Capital Projects:

  • Oversee project budgeting and procurement process ensuring projects are completed within the specified timelines and budgets
  • Collaborate with internal TBJ departments to develop designs, requirements and programming needs necessary for fans as well as TBJ baseball and business operations
  • Present capital planning and project recommendations and project updates to TBJ senior leadership and ownership
  • Oversee internal project managers responsible for execution of ongoing annual capital projects

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

  • Coordinate across multiple departments including Facilities, Baseball Operations, Information Technology, Concessions, Corporate Partnerships, Marketing, Ticket Sales, and Strategy & Analytics to ensure departmental needs are included in capital planning and project implementation
  • Work with Concessions department, Aramark and other vendors to ensure ongoing facilities needs are being met
  • Oversee relationships with Rogers Centre tenants and the  hotel, to ensure that facilities operations are following contractual obligations and maximizing operational efficiency
  • Work with Strategy & Analytics, Finance and Legal Affairs to research, analyze, plan and negotiate agreements with vendors, tenants, government entities and other third party stakeholders

Organizational Leadership:

  • Participate on the business leadership team and provide input into critical organizational strategic decisions
  • Participate on cross-functional initiatives, committees, and strategic projects to provide key insights related to facility construction and management
  • Build and enhance organizational strategic relationships with government and civic organizations, league-level stakeholders, and critical vendors (architecture firms, construction management firms and other suppliers, etc.), and across Rogers Communications
  • Hire and manage department staff members and lead department business planning activities
  • Oversee management of departmental budget

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor Degree in related field – MBA or related graduate degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years of related experience in venue operations, facilities management, building operations, venue management, real estate development
  • Experience leading teams to operate relevant venues including stadiums, arenas, sports facilities, hotels, multi-use real estate developments, malls or other related facilities
  • Track record of successful budgeting, purchasing, procurement or P&L management
  • Experience working with architects, engineers, construction management firms and other contractors and subcontractors
  • Proven successful change and project management experience required
  • Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Strategic leadership skills required
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
