Our client is a mid-size specialty packaging firm that is recognized across North America for being unsurpassed in the quality of its services. The company specializes in products and services mainly for the consumer-packaged goods, food, OTC pharmaceutical and personal health care sectors.
They are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Business Development Representative to develop new accounts in any of their target sectors, but with a particular focus on the food sector. This individual will also be responsible for the ongoing account management, looking to increase the business within their accounts. The Sales team works directly with end customers, as wells ad agency and the printer channels.
- Develop new accounts, primarily focusing on single serve food capability
- Manage relationships with ongoing accounts, mining them in order to increase annual sales
- Develop promotional packaging opportunities as well as ongoing co-packing accounts
- Develop and execute a territory management plan
- Document activities and provide reports using tools provided
- Work collaboratively with marketing to ensure optimal results for any promotions or other initiatives.
Skills and attributes:
- Demonstrated success in opening up new accounts
- Comfortable making cold and warm calls
- Ability to sell solutions, not just product features or on price
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong focus on relationship building and constant communications with clients
- Very detail oriented
- Self motivated and results-oriented
- Able to work independently, yet be collaborative
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 4-6 years experience in outside sales
- Proven track record of sales success
- Experienced selling into marketers, brand managers or agencies
- Background in sales to food products industry would be an asset
- Proficient in basic MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in French is an asset but not necessary
