OUR CLIENT:
Our Client, a North American CPG leader in their product category requires an Intermediate Commodity Buyer to join their elite team.
THE MANDATE:
The incumbent will ideally have 2-3 years exposure in a purchasing function by either being directly involved with procurement/trading OR as a commodity analyst dealing with CONSUMABLE products. With well-honed customer-service skills, a large part of the focus will be to interact with key customers to help manage their position so that they are not over-exposed in their stock of various consumable products. You will ensure that your customers obtain the lowest sustainable costs and you will help to ensure an uninterrupted supply of high-quality goods at all time.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Execute, report and manage all records of Customer Commitment purchases
- Execute and manage all administration relative to product futures
- Oversee product-related month-end financial reporting
- Negotiate pricing agreements with suppliers in accordance with the company's business plan
- Evaluate, approve or reject raw material tenders vs. purchased specifications
- Effectively interact cross-functionally with Quality Control, Sales, Marketing, Finance and Manufacturing Operations
- Support the commodity and logistics/traffic team in setting priorities for raw material approval and resulting delivery
- Key support for manufacturing operations
- Contract management and compliance
- Produce weekly reports with overview of current position
- Respond to client inquiries – facilitate timely processing of complaints including contributing to a corrective action plan
- Support Customer tours
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education.
- 2-3 years procurement experience within a consumable food product manufacturer
- Highly motivated
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task with many high priority and time-sensitive assignments
- Flexible attitude
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills
- Effectively manage multiple competing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook
