HR GENERALIST
Mississauga

Our client a global leader in the medical device industry is looking to a hire an HR Generalist with initiative, judgment and decisiveness to join their HR Team.  Reporting the Head of Human Resources Canada, you will act as the primary point of contact for employees for all HR related matters and will manage the entire administrative function, including Recruiting and Selection, Employee Relations, Compensation & Benefits, and Performance Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the entire administrative function for human resources including: maintenance of all employee and HR files, new hire orientation packages, employee referral program, and preparation of employment letters, job postings, verification of employment queries, signed performance reviews and objectives. 
  • Utilize a strategic approach to salary evaluations, compensation, recruitment and training.
  • Responsible for generating monthly HR statistical reports i.e. Turnover Report, vacancy reports, Headcount Reports, HR metrics etc.
  • Maintain and update employee information by inputting data directly into the HRIS People soft system ensuring all HR employee files are kept up to date.
  • Act as back up for HR Analyst: Semi – monthly Payroll & Time attendance administration.

Recruiting and Selection:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with recruiting sources and lead the recruitment and selection of hourly, temporary and salaried positions within the company.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of Human Resource and other key positions in the company.
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to disseminate general company policy and procedure information, benefit information, and foster positive attitude towards company goals.
  • Develop, implement and manage the implementation of new employee orientation programs.

Employee Relations:

  • Conduct exit interview process to ensure exit interviews are completed and data is compiled and reported.
  • Coordinate employee letters and communication meetings.
  • Create and maintain a sense of community, keeping Human Resource issues and morale priorities at a high level, promote high performance culture.
  • Assist in training/counseling managers and supervisors on employment practices so that they are prepared to deal with employee inquiries.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Understanding of legal and regulatory factors affecting compensation and benefits.
  • Audit and maintain record of insurance coverage, pension plan, and personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews and terminations using the Sun Life Sponsor website.
  • Directs preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefit programs such as insurance plans, pension plans, vacation, bonus pay and special employer sponsored events.
  • Perform monthly audits and payment for third party invoices i.e. Sun Life, Axa, Watson Wyatt, Pharma Canada etc.  
  • Assist in Salary Planning administration.

Performance Management:

  • Assist management with improving performance levels in their functional area by coaching, counseling and goal setting.
  • Ensures copies of all performance reviews and objectives are completed and filed.
  • Train new hires in ePMP system.
  • Participates in team HR program planning and processes as need to maintain and improve Human Resources outcomes by remaining current on all ESA legislation and changes to ensure compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-6 years of  HR Generalist experience combined with 3-5 years experience in HRIS administration, Pension & Benefits administration, employee relations and HR policy/ program development, implementation & interpretation.
  • University Degree, Bachelors Business Administration/Commerce.
  • CHRP Designation preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of HRIS & ADP Systems:   HRIS People Soft and or SAP, ADP Pay at Work, ADP EzLabour.
  • Strong attention to details and problem solving skills as well as ability to multi-task in an organized manner.
  • Strong organization and administrative skills; capable of operating independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills; approachable, good relationship builder; strong customer service focus.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment and related legislation (e.g. Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act), equity principles and sound human resources practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of Salary administration and Rewards and Recognition programs
  • Ability to work under time constraints, results oriented and adapt to change in a dynamic and diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
