Client:

Our Client is a trusted advisor in the design and manufacture of quality and innovative 100% recyclable corrugated packaging solutions.  They operate various facilities across Canada and in the United States.  Their facility manufactures container and packaging solutions for the food and beverage, produce and textiles and other industrial products. 

Mandate:

Your mandate will be to provide direct management support to the Vice President and General Manager by primarily overseeing and coordinating the various operations of the Plant.  This will include: receiving, corrugators and converting departments, shipping and warehousing planning, maintenance and procurement.  You will also be responsible for improving efficiency and economy of the operation to minimize costs while improving product quality.  The successful candidate will be a “hands on” manager who believes in using communication to transform plant culture toward one of continuous improvement and total customer focus.

Responsibilities:

• Develop strategies to ensure qualified managers/supervisors are trained and retained by establishing a plant culture that is based on accountability at all levels within the plant.
• Management of 9 Supervisors including union experience
• Review production costs, and modify or adapt production and inventory controls program to enhance the operations and increase productivity.
• Attain company objectives by implementing and working towards the reduction of side trim, downtime, shipping costs, overall plant overhead, and efficiency gains.
• Work with the HR Department to ensure management rights by the collective agreements are fully utilized and that proper communication structure is in place and maintained.
• Supervise the implementation of employee relations.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education required.
• 5+ years of experience in a Production Management role within  lean manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in Change Management solutions.
• Strong leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills.
• Must have demonstrated “hands on” lean manufacturing and process improvement implementation experience, ideally from the corrugated industry.
