We have been retained to source a Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager for our valued client who is one of Canada’s largest CPG manufacturers in their field in North America.
THE MANDATE:
Proven success leading a strong team is essential. In this pivotal role, the ideal candidate will come from a Co-Pack or Private Label Manufacturer with some experience in all three aspects of supply chain including: logistics, purchasing and inventory management, with Materials Resource Planning being a strong asset. Success in this role will be dependent on your ability to communicate and lead cross-functionally to ensure that all aspects of supply are monitored for potential bottlenecks and inventory levels are closely monitored to ensure supply is adequate for demand. This role requires a detailed and process-oriented person who has an independent, proactive work-style. The ideal candidate must be comfortable actively finding and delivering solutions, seeking input as needed. Being an exceptionally strong mentor and leader who can inspire a team of 6 people to achieve new heights and positively influence their personal growth is essential. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating purchasing and manufacturing schedules to match demand planning.
- Manage all aspects of contract implementation including business communications, change management, education and awareness, program refinement and roll-out, business case preparation and recommendations, reporting, control and compliance
- Project management responsibilities including: budget and forecasting, task scheduling, time management, project team leadership, approval processes and regular stakeholder communications, often through regular awareness / education type sessions.
- Managing and maintaining vendor relationships including negotiating and coordinating pricing.
- Developing new ways to optimize improve and solve problems in the supply chain as they arise, particularly related to getting products from point A to point B.
- Work with the other business areas to raise the awareness / understanding for procurement and vendor life cycle costs
- Maintaining optimal inventory levels at multiple locations and doing monthly reconciliations.
- Dealing with customs and suppliers for international import / export.
- Interacting across various functional departments to effectively support the sales team by communicating stock / inventory levels, etc
- Acting as an assistant to the Director of Purchasing to complete special projects as needed.
- Sourcing vendors on a local and global scope as needed.
- Optimizing the efficiency and cost of our supply chain by updating costing models on a regular basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 - 10 years of relevant procurement experience preferred
- University degree and/or professional designation is preferred CPP or PMAC
- Experience in sourcing packaging and/or ingredients and/or finished goods
- Six Sigma process knowledge is an asset
- Self-starter and results-oriented with a strong and positive business outlook
- Strong analytical and business tool skills with particular attention to detail
- Strong Financial Analysis skills
- Demonstrated ability in project management, leadership and facilitation
- Strong understanding and experiences using team-based buying principles and Strategic Sourcing
- Strong understanding and experience in procurement practices specific to tendering, RFP’s, RFQ’s, negotiations and contracting
