SENIOR PURCHASING MANAGER
Toronto

OUR CLIENT:

Our Client, a Canadian-owned and operated company has been continuously recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in Canada.  They require a Senior Procurement Specialist who has a strong background in food procurement to join their Toronto office. Their core business involves managing the supply chain system and distribution relationships for a variety of hospitality venues which includes restaurants, hotels, regional food service banners as well as other independent channels. THE MANDATE:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full procurement process from end-to-end and must bring strong contract negotiation and management skills. They will negotiate volume purchases of food, paper, packaging, beverages and all services and supplies. The focus of the role will be to ensure that the company’s client groups obtain the lowest sustainable costs and ensuring an uninterrupted supply of high-quality goods.  The incumbent will be leading and mentoring a team of 4 specialized buyers.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction through the proper processes and contract negotiations.
  • Complete administration and management of the RFP process.
  • Negotiate pricing agreements with suppliers in accordance with the company's business plan.
  • Work with sales and marketing teams of the various brands in sourcing and establishing new products for the organization.
  • Contract management and compliance.
  • Client management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education.
  • 5 years food product procurement experience is essential.
  • Understanding of Supply Chain management.
  • Internally motivated and requires little direction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent persuasion and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • Effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Able to travel to meet vendors or attend trade shows periodically.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook.
